GENERAL INFORMATION
Some fish migrate through local water, driven by the water temperature and the available of the baitfish upon which they fee. Mackerel is a good example of fish which show up when water temperature reaches the low 70's. This coincides with an explosion in the population of various minnows and baitfish. When water temperatures get too high, the baitfish and gamefish head for cooler waters.

Certain fish, such as tuna, dolphin and various marlin and sailfish are offshore fish, which usually inhabit very deep water associated with the Gulf Stream Since the Gulf Stream is about 100 miles off Collier County, it's generally impractical to fish fish for them there. The Gulf Stream is much closer to shore at the Key and on Florida's east coast.

The following chart is a general guide to the more popular local saltwater game fish. A special "Thank You", to Captain Dan Haley of Day Dreamer Charters for supplying this information. http://www.daydreamerfishing.com/
